JoAnn M. (Compagni) Elizondo, 76, of Hillsboro, IL, passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2019, at 2:17 p.m., at her residence in Hillsboro, IL. Cremation rites were accorded and a private family graveside memorial service will be held at a later date at Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Coffeen, IL.

Rev. Steve Revisky, Pastor of Christian Church of Litchfield, Litchfield, IL, will officiate. Mrs. Elizondo was born on August 17, 1942 in Chicago, IL to the late James and Anna (Lentz) Compagni.

She attended Hillsboro High School, Hillsboro, IL and worked at Hillsboro Area Hospital in dietary, Hillsboro, IL. Mrs. Elizondo married Samuel J. Elizondo in 1959 in Hillsboro, IL and he preceded her on December 30, 2016. She loved the outdoors and watching hummingbirds, working in the yard and burning sticks and leaves, loved tending her flowers, and loved her grandchildren.

Mrs. Elizondo is survived by three children, James Dean Elizondo of Nebraska, Wayne (wife Kim) Elizondo of Taylor Springs, IL, and Patricia (spouse Ethel) Elizondo of Hillsboro, IL; four grandchildren, Ashley Heisman of Carlinville, IL, Christina Heisman of Hillsboro, IL, Nancy Elizondo of Oklahoma, and Alana Elizondo of Oklahoma; several great-grandchildren; a brother, Thomas (wife Joyce) Compagni of Hillsboro, IL; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Elizondo was also preceded in death by a brother, James Compagni. Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association.
