Hughen, age 84 of Brewton’s Mill, Louisiana passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 20, 2019 surrounded by his family. Born Tuesday, October 30, 1934 in Jonesboro, Louisiana, he was preceded in death by his parents, Eunice Berry Hughen and Joe W. Hughen. Mr. Hughen was retired from the Roy O. Martin Timber Company and was a member of the Antioch Community Church in Brewton’s Mill.

He served his country in the United States Navy and was a volunteer fireman. Mr. Hughen loved his Lord, his family, and his flowers. Those left to cherish his memory include wife of 57 years, Nellie Peterson Hughen, Brewton’s Mill; daughters Cindy Chandler (Kevin), Winnfield, and Mona Russell (Danny), Madisonville; granddaughter, Sara Beth Rushing (Trevor), Walker; Poppie was anticipating the arrival of his first great grandchild and namesake, Aubrey Jo.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 22, 2019, at Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and again on Wednesday, January 23, 2019, at Antioch Community Church in Brewton’s Mill from 9:30 AM until time of services. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at Antioch Community Church with the Reverends Hayward Hossler and Yancy Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Yankee Springs Cemetery in Goldonna.

Serving the family as pallbearers will be Greg Caskey, Jeff Caskey, Ryon Chandler, Wayne Durbin, Roy Simon, and Greg Stephens. The family wishes to express special thanks to the staff and care givers at Autumn Leaves Nursing Facility for their loving care.
