Obituary for John Carter Kilgo Funeral services for John Carter Kilgo, age 86, of Hideaway, Texas are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 15, 2018 in the Wade Funeral Home chapel in Hubbard, Texas with interment to follow in the Penelope Cemetery in Penelope, Texas. Local arrangements were handled by Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home in Lindale, Texas. John died Friday, May 11, 2018 in a Gilmer, Texas senior care facility.

He was born on January 9, 1932 in Hubbard, Texas to the late Louis E. and Florence (Jones) Kilgo and was of the Baptist faith. John worked as a diesel mechanic for many years and married Thalia Underhill on August 20, 1955 until she preceded him in death after 60 years of marriage on June 28, 2016. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Louis, Dorothy, Edna, Mary, Varue, Jackie and Virginia.

John is survived by his daughter & son-in-law, Robin & Gary McClain of Lindale, Texas; brother & sister-in-law, Wayne & Jack Kilgo of Hubbard, Texas; 2 grandchildren, Kristin Shaver of Hideaway, Texas and Tim Pettigrew of Lindale, Texas; 4 great grandchildren, Jaydon, Ethan, Brett and Emmorie. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M., prior to the funeral services on Tuesday at the Wade Funeral Home chapel in Hubbard, Texas. Donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
