John’s Obituary John D. Carney, 58 of Fulton passed away Wednesday evening at Upstate Medical University. He was born in Boston, MA and was the son of John L. Carney and the late Edith D. Lees Carney. Mr. Carney was an airline mechanic and had been employed for many years with Continental Airlines.

John also served in the US Army and was very proud of his service. He was the husband of Susan Z. Sharkey and step-father to Denise (Carrie) Sharkey, William Slight, Joanne (Scott) Muroski and Carrie (Butch) Coon; plus 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and father, he is survived by one sister Margaret Carney of Henrico, Virginia.

He was predeceased by a brother Michael Anthony Carney. John was a fan of the Boston Red Sox, Washington Redskins and he was a avid fan of golf; especially the stories of the time he played in Scotland. Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
