William “Bill”‘s Obituary Oswego-William “Bill” Torbitt, 82, unwillingly left us on Saturday March 16th, 2019 with his family by his side at the Oswego Health Care Center. He was born the son of Raymond and Dorothy (Buske) Torbitt. Bill is survived by his loving wife Joanne (Nastasi), his son Casey Collins, and his buddy Maddie.

His brother Larry (Ester) Torbitt, sister Doreen Torbitt and several nieces and nephews of which the self proclaimed favorites will remain unnamed. He was predeceased by his parents and brothers Robert, Raymond, Donald and Jack, Sister Barbara Torbitt. And daughter Shannon Collins.

He was the owner of Torbitt’s Auto Service for several years and worked and retired from Entergy Nuclear Generation Station. Bill was a very vocal and avid arm chair coach of Syracuse University Basketball and Football as well as the New York Giants and Yankees. “Uncle Bill”, as he was known to many, loved bowling and golf.

He especially loved participating in Elks Bowling Tournaments through the years with his nephews, some which he had fond memories of and some that we will just not talk about. He served in the United States Air Force from 1954 to 1958, He was a member of the Oswego and Fulton Bowling Hall of fame. He was a Life Time Member of the Oswego Elks Lodge 271 and a member of American Legion Post 268.

A special thanks to the very loving, caring and professional 4th Floor Staff at the Oswego Health Care Center and Dr Logan and Dr. Marie Castillo-Alcasid. They’re care for Uncle Bill and his family in his last days was awesome. Calling hours will be held 4-7PM Tuesday, March 19th at the Nelson Funeral Home.

Services will be held 11AM Wednesday at the Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany St. Oswego. Spring burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fulton. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the SPCA in Bill’s memory.
