John D Richardson passed peacefully November 11, 2018 attended by family. Born February 11, 1928 of the Winfield-Sugarcreek Richardsons in Tuscarawas County Ohio, John D and his twin brother Joe E were pilots for the U.S. Navy on the aircraft carrier USS Roosevelt, his brother lost at sea. John graduated Ohio State University as a Sigma Chi and went on to have a distinguished career in aeronautical engineering, retiring, holding patents, from North American Rockwell and GE Aircraft.

In his retirement he co-founded North American Aeronautical Consultants to design the Paragon Spirit, a single-engine jet-glider, one of the first of its kind. He took up skiing when he was 75 to stay active and because it was free through the senior center. As an Irish Catholic he was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and avidly supported The Hooligans when playing at Tara Hall and attended numerous Shamrock Club events on St. Patrick’s Day.

He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, as well as a past officer of the Bexley Conservation Club, Sigma Chi and a number of professional, educational and veterans organizations. He was preceded in death by parents Ralph and Gladys (Warner) Richardson and brothers Tom, Harry and his twin Joe. He is survived by his wife of more than 65 years, Carol, his son J.D. Richardson, Principal of os3 Consultants & Cousins Army Navy and daughter Anne (Bryan) Fouss, as well as grandson John and many nieces & nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Richardson Cultural Education Fund of the Ancient Order of Hibernians – Patrick Pearse Division of Franklin County Ohio or in his name to your favorite charities that support his charitable interests including Alzheimer’s Research, Parkinson’s Research, Stroke Research, Ohio State University and Veteran’s Organizations. Friends are invited to Calling Hours Thursday, November 15, 2018 from 4:00 pm-7:00 pm at Egan-Ryan Funeral Home, 403 E. Broad Street Columbus, 43215, the Hibernian Honor Guard concluding the ceremony with “The Parting Glass” at 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday in the Our Mother of Sorrows Chapel – St. Joseph Cemetery 6440 South High Street Lockbourne, OH 43137-9207.
