John’s Obituary Mr. John Denson Lett, Jr. died January 29, 2019 at McLeod Hospice House surrounded by his loving family. A son of the late John Denson Lett, Sr. and Gladys Britt Lett of Marion, Mr. Lett was born September 28, 1942. Mr. Lett was a graduate of Marion High School.

Upon graduation he entered the U.S. Navy and served aboard the U.S.S. Robinson during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Upon his discharge, Mr. Lett began a thirty-four-year career with E. I. DuPont. After retirement he operated a painting and building business.

An active member of Tranquil United Methodist Church, he served as Chairman of the Administrative Board, a trustee and a member of the Adult Sunday School Class. He was also a Mason. Surviving Mr. Lett in addition to his wife of the home, Joyce West Lett are: his Daughters: Allyson Lett of Marion and Michelle Lett of Pawley’s Island; his Grandchildren: Logan Hennecy of Marion and Denson Crisler of Pawley’s Island; a Sister: Peggy L. Skinner; his Brothers: Joe (JoAnne) Lett of Florence and Tommy Lett of Marion; and his Mother-in-Law: Mrs. Mamie West of Mullins.

Services for John Denson Lett, Jr. will be held Friday, February 1 at 3:00 P.M. at Tranquil United Methodist Church, with Rev. Grady Corder and Rev. Stephen D. Bailey officiating.

Burial will follow in the services in the Tranquil UMC Cemetery. Cox-Collins Funeral Home of Mullins is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation for Mr. Lett will begin at Tranquil United Methodist Church at 1:30 P.M. Memorials for Mr. Lett may be sent to Tranquil United Methodist Church, c/o Mrs. Gloria Taylor, 3602 Sandhills Road, Mullins, SC 29574.
