John’s Obituary John F. Flanagan, 89, a resident of Minetto NY, passed away Thursday, at the Oswego Hospital. Mr. Flanagan was born in Minetto, the son of the late John J. and Anna (Huppman) Flanagan. He was a life resident.

He was the husband of the late Frances Flanagan, who died on June 9th, 1990. Mr. Flanagan was a veteran of the US Air Force. Prior to his retirement, he was employed with the Oswego County Soil and Water Conservation Agency for 22 years.

He had previously worked, for 22 years, for the Columbia Mills Corp. in Minetto. He was a 37-year member, and former chief, of the Minetto Fire Department, and had also been a volunteer with McFee Ambulance for 6 years.

He was a member of the Oswego Elks Club, Minetto American Legion, and an avid bowler. He was a member of Boy Scout troop 19 in Minetto, which is now troop 819. The leader of the troop, Mr. Clark, and some of the Minetto troop including John, helped to start the Boy Scout troop at the refugee camp at the fort.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman, going to Canada with his mother and brother to fish. He deer hunted for years in Redfield, and in Stueben County in the Bath area. He loved animals and was an avid bird watcher.

At one time he did beekeeping. He was predeceased by his sisters Clarice Prusch and Alice Lagoe; and a brother Ed Carey He is survived by two daughters, Kathryne (Matt) Cobb of Oswego, and Kristine Flanagan of Minetto; a son, John G. Flanagan of Minetto; and a close friend, John David Gercham. Graveside services will be held in St. Peter’s Cemetery at a later date.

There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are in care of the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home, Oswego. Memorial contributions can be made to the Minetto Volunteer Fire Department; or to the American Cancer Society.
