Obituary for John H. Meyer John Howard Meyer, 78, of Red Wing, died Saturday, June 9, 2018 at the Red Wing Care Community. He was born February 21, 1940 in Red Wing to Benjamin and Gladys (Siewert) Meyer. He graduated from Red Wing Central High School before going to work on his family’s farm.

He would also drive truck for Hiawatha Glass and later work for the City of Red Wing. He worked for the city for many years before retiring in 1995. On August 10, 1963 he married Deloris Wheeler and the couple raised one son.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Red Wing. John was a hard worker who loved looking after his farm. He enjoyed watching the deer on the farm and going fishing.

He and Deloris enjoyed traveling and taking trips to Sandstone to see shows. He was a fan of Hee Haw and RFD -TV, enjoyed listening to KCUE and KDHL and he loved a good polka. Most of all, he was proud of his family.

He will be remembered as a loving father and grandfather. John is survived by son, Dale (Michelle) Meyer of Red Wing; three grandchildren, D.J., Ray and Samantha Meyer, all of Red Wing; one sister, Darlene Marie Meyer and one brother-in-law, Kenny DeLong. He is preceded in death by his wife, Deloris and his parents.

The family would like to thank Hospice staff, the Red Wing Health Care Community and the Mayo Clinic, Red Wing for the care they gave John. Also a very special thank you to Pastor Amanda Larson and Jane Stone. A funeral service will be 11 a.m., Friday, June 15, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church with Reverend Amanda Larsen officiating.

Visitation will be 5 -7 p.m., Thursday, June 14, 2018 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and one hour prior to the service at church. Burial at Oakwood Cemetery. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.
