Funeral service for John Hershel Callahan, 71, will be Thursday, May 16, 2019 at 1:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. David Taylor officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Nelson Hollow Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday, May 15, 2019 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home. Mr. Callahan died on Monday, February 16, 2009 at his residence. He was born November 8, 1937, in Morgan County to Robert Lewis Callahan and Lela Pannell Callahan.

He was a member of the United Christian Church of God and was well respected by young people. Always was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was employed as a sawyer, for Billy Amos, prior to his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Zilla Faye Atchley, his infant son: Jeffrey Callahan, a daughter: JoAnn Talbott, a granddaughter: Ashlyn Callahan, two brothers and six sisters. Survivors include : his Wife, Gloria Callahan, Hartselle, AL Three Sons: Hershel Lynn Callahan (Sue), Danville, AL, John David Callahan, Culleoka, TN and Mark Anthony Callahan, Priceville, AL One Daughter: Mary Ann Hill, Hartselle, AL Four Brothers: Gene Callahan, Somerville, AL, Marshall Callahan, Somerville, AL, James Callahan, Somerville, AL and Bobby Callahan, Somerville, AL One Sister: Nell Oden (Delane), Somerville, AL Twelve Grandchildren Three Great Grandchildren Pallbearers will be Carrissa Callahan, James Owens, Cory Owens, Alex Reaves, Brian Meares and Junior Meares.
