John Nuckles, 88, of Indian River passed away on May 6, 2018 at Hiland Cottage in Petoskey, MI. John was born on October 22, 1929 in Flint, MI the son of Charles and Pearl McKenny. He grew up in Mount Morris and attended school at Mount Morris High School.

John proudly served our country in the Army where he was stationed in Virginia during the Korean War. On February 4, 1957 he married Marion Moorehouse in Angola, Indiana. John enjoyed boating, jet skiing, fishing, and story telling.

He made his winter home in Florida and his summer home was in Indian River. John was a lifelong member of the Masonic Lodge, a member at many locations including Florida, Flint, MI, and Indian River as well as being a member at the Indian River United Methodist Church. John is survived by his step-sister Sandy Kadet, niece Linda (Doug) Peariso, and several other nieces and nephews, as well as sister in law Carol Crumb and brother in law Clarence Moorehouse.

he is preceded in death by his wife Marion, his parents, and several sisters and brothers-in-law. Services for John will be held at the Indian River United Methodist Church on Saturday June 9th at 11am with the family greeting friends for visitation beginning at 10am. Anyone wishing to make a memorial contribution in memory of John should consider the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.
