Louis Neumann, 96, of Cheboygan, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2018 in Hudson, Florida. Louis was born June 12, 1921 in Cheboygan, the son of Edward and Emma (Knaffle) Neumann. He was a 1939 graduate of Cheboygan High School, and later served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.

In 1946 he married Rose Barrette, who preceded him in death in 1994 after nearly 50 years of marriage. Louis owned and operated Neumann Oil, which distributed Marathon Oil Products, NAPA auto parts, and Dayton Tires, from 1953 until his retirement in 1979. He was a member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church, and the Kiwanis Club, and enjoyed square dancing.

Surviving are his wife, Kathleen, three sons, Gene “Skeeter” (Michelle) Barrette of Cheboygan, Ed (Karen) Neumann of Grand Rapids, and Roger (Sue) Neumann, also of Cheboygan, 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and two great grandchildren, two sisters, Frieda Brandau of Cheboygan, and Gladys Mees of Tuscon, Arizona, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Rose, a daughter, Linda McKee, and a sister, Lucille Socha and a brother, Richard Neumann. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 11, 2018 at 11:00am, with visitation beginning at 10:00am, at St. Thomas Lutheran Church in Cheboygan.

Rev. Dave Hueter will officiate, burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Mullett Lake Village. Memorials may be made to St. Thomas Lutheran Church.
