Jean Ann Pickett, age 93, of Petoskey, died on May 2, 2018 at McLaren Hospital in Petoskey, Michigan following a brief yet valiant bout with pneumonia. Jean was born on December 24, 1924 in Waukesha, Wisconsin to Amy (Tibbetts) and Gordon Liberty. She moved to Petoskey as an infant and graduated from Petoskey High School in 1942.

She attended the University of Michigan and she received a Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree in Childhood Development. While at Michigan, she met and in 1955 married Dr. Conrad Pickett in Petoskey. Over her lifetime, she lived in various places around the country moving with her husband during his medical career.

She enjoyed her time spent in Hot Springs, SD, San Luis Obispo, CA, and Sheridan, WY, but she always considered Petoskey home. She had fond memories of her youth spent on Emmet Street where her parents owned and operated the general store still there, summers spent at her Bay View “Pickett Pad” Cottage attending many events in Bay View over her lifetime, and the many years she’s lived on Grove Street. She was a member of the Bay View Association and Petoskey United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her children Amy (Daniel) Pucket of Hot Springs, South Dakota, Jeffrey of Lake Tahoe, California, David of Petoskey, Laurie (Bill) Hickman of Longmont, Colorado, and Melanie (Cyril) Drier of Petoskey. She is also survived by grandchildren Cece, Seth, Luke, Benjamin, Samantha, Melissa, Stephanie, Jonathan, William, Bethany, Arielle and Zachary, and great grandchildren Micah and Riley, and her niece Mary Krausse of Ann Arbor and nephew Charles Krausse of Indiana. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband of 57 years, and older sister Marion Krausse.

A private graveside service will take place at the Greenwood Cemetery in Petoskey and family celebration of her life in the summer.
