Funeral services for Rev. John L. Standridge, 87, of Lufkin, will be held Friday, January 11, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at Harborlight Church in Lufkin, with Pastor D.R. McNaughton and Rev. Pete Heaton officiating.

Interment will follow at Whitehouse Cemetery. Rev. Standridge was born August 24, 1931 in Centerville, Arkansas, the son of Luther Standridge and Mamie (Gray) Standridge, and died Friday, January 04, 2019 in Lufkin.

Rev. Standridge was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved serving the Lord, which he did faithfully in the ministry for over 60 years and was a greeter at Walmart in Lufkin, Texas.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Helen Standridge of Lufkin; daughter, Sharon Want of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Kenny and Gaye Standridge of Pollok; son and daughter-in-law, David L. and Vivien Standridge of Huntington; son and daughter-in-law, Shawn and Michelle Standridge of Sparta, MO; grandsons, Aaron Williams and wife Judith of Panama City, Panama; Colby Williams and wife Kim of Wichita, KS; Lance Standridge and wife Rebecca of Nacogdoches; John Thomas Bivens and wife Peggy of St. Louis, MO; Timothy Standridge and wife Chelsea of St. Louis, MO; Davey Standridge of Hemphill, TX; D.J. Standridge and wife Kristy of Sparta, MO; DeWayne Buster and wife, Melanie of Nacogdoches, TX; ; Dwight Wolf of Lufkin, TX; Bradley Cox and wife Shelbi of Lufkin, TX; Byron Cox of Houston, TX; granddaughters, Tammy Alvis of Chireno, TX; Kim Winthrop and husband David of Pollok, TX; Robin Faulkner and husband Jim of Cleburne, TX; Paula Standridge of Hudson, Tx; Nicole Cox of Livingston, TX; Jennifer Cox of Huffman, TX; Samantha DeMier of St. Louis, MO; Megan Tullos of Abilene, TX; and Amanda Clowdus and husband Paul of Lufkin, Tx; sister and brother-in-law Geraldine and Larry Burdine of Es, MO; numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. Rev. Standridge was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers and 1 sister, and son -in-law, Norman Want.

Pallbearers will be Bradley Cox, Timothy Standridge, John Thomas Bivens, D.J. Standridge, Dustin Wheeler and Chris Wheeler. Honorary pallbearers will be DeWayne Buster, Irbin Alvarado, Bryon Cox and Brayden McDaniel. Special memorials may be made to Heart to Heart Hospice, 209 Christie St., Lufkin, Texas, 75904 and Harborlight Church, 109 Jones, of Lufkin, TX.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 10, 2019 at Harborlight Church in Lufkin. Shafer Funeral Home, Lufkin directors.
