A private, immediate family interment will follow in the Ben Walker Cemetery. Janet, or “Nanet” as she was known to so many, was born November 13, 1954 in Lufkin, Texas to Dorothy (Walker) and Edmond Myers, Jr., and died Sunday, December 30, 2018 in a Houston hospital after a hard fought battle with breast cancer and resulting heart complications from treatment.
What can you say about someone whose untimely departure leaves such a gaping hole in the hearts of so many? A paragraph in the newspaper could never be sufficient, as anyone who knew her would attest. Janet was a person who was, above all things, a giver of herself.
She gave her time, she gave her help, but most of all, she gave her love to everyone who came around her. She treasured spending time with her family and friends and loved her children and grandchildren beyond measure. She selflessly took care of other people and always put others before herself.
She enjoyed traveling with her family and friends, spending as much time as possible in Colorado during the changing of the leaves in the fall. She loved playing cards, dominoes and doing jigsaw puzzles, especially at the family’s beloved river camp on the Angelina River. Although quick to admit that she lacked musical talent, she spent hours listening to her family practice singing and playing.
She was the most wonderful mother and grandmother, leaving kids and grandkids who never had to question how deeply she cared for them. She was saved and baptized in the church she grew up and served in for many years, LaLa Hill Baptist Church in Huntington, Texas. She recently became a member of Huntington First Baptist Church.
To say she will be missed is such a gross understatement; it is painful to even make such an assertion. Her absence leaves us aching. She was the glue that held our family together.
