Wayne Nerren March 02, 1935 – January 01, 2019 Share this obituary Local Florists Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries| Send Sympathy Card Memorial services for Wayne Nerren, 83, of Central will be held Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Elton Musick officiating. Per his wishes, cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home. Mr. Nerren was born March 2, 1935 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Nora Mae (Allen) and Jasper Benjamin “Jack” Nerren, and died Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at his residence.

Mr. Nerren was a lifetime resident of Central. He graduated from Central High School in 1954 and earned a master’s degree from Stephen F. Austin State University. He spent his entire career at Central ISD, starting in 1961 as a History teacher and the girls’ basketball coach.

In 1964 he became the Elementary School Principal. Years later the Elementary was divided and he chose the Primary School where he remained until his retirement in 1998. Shortly after, the road leading to Primary was named Wayne Nerren Drive and he was dubbed “Mr. Central”.

At the time of his retirement, Mr. Nerren was educating his third generation of families. In his younger years, Mr. Nerren was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a devoted family man and loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Liddie Nerren of Central; children and their spouses, Dixie and David Haskins of Lufkin, Randy and Sabrina Nerren of Pollok, and Lisa and George Owens of Lufkin; grandchildren and spouses, Eric Haskins, Hunter Nerren, Jessica and Chip Kelley, and Justin and Laura Plopper; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Georgia Helen Palmore of Lufkin and Jackie Parker of Pollok; sisters-in-law, Joy Parker of Lufkin and Yonnie Dixon of Pollok; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Dakota Nerren; great-granddaughter, Zoe Grace Trevino; and sister, Betty Davis. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dakota Nerren Memorial Scholarship Fund, 852 N. Homer Alto Road, Pollok, Texas 75969.
