John Joseph Tidwell February 16, 1933 – February 23, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Graveside services for John Joseph Tidwell, 86, of Lufkin will be held Friday, March 1, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio with Brother Wayne Roberson officiating. Mr. Tidwell was born February 16, 1933 in Livingston, Texas to the late Marguerite Evelyn (Lockhart) and James Marvin Tidwell, and died Saturday, February 23, 2019 in a local hospice facility. A former resident of Schertz and Belton, Mr. Tidwell had resided in Lufkin since 2015.

He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Stephen F. Austin State University. Mr. Tidwell served in the U.S. Army and retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture where he was an auditor. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his sister, Arline Gates of Lufkin and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Maxine C. (Bryant) Tidwell; sister, Trudy Vardeman; and infant brother, Stephen Michael Tidwell. Memories and condolences may be added at www.
