John Lewis “J.L.” Decker, Sr., 85, of Beaver Dam, Kentucky went to his heavenly home on Monday, April 30, 2018 at Jewish Hospital in Louisville surrounded by his family. He was born May 25, 1932 in Ohio County, Kentucky to the late Cletus Decker and Mary Jane Willoughby Decker. Mr. Decker retired from Karges.

He was member of Fairview Baptist Church where he was an honorary deacon. Mr. Decker loved Jesus, riding his scooter, and mowing. Aside from his parents Mr. Decker was preceded in death by his wife, Margie Burden Decker; a son, John Decker, Jr.; a sister, Alice Geary and brother, Mal Decker.

Survivors include a son, Jeff (Tamera) Decker of Morgantown; three daughters, Jane (Bruce) Daniel of Hartford, Joan (Gene) Blankenship of Beaver Dam, and Judy (Dan) Askins of Owensboro; daughter-in-law, Treva Decker; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, May 3, 2018 at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, Kentucky with Rev. Jerry Toler officiating.

Burial will follow in Echols Cemetery in Echols, Kentucky. Friends may visit with Mr. Decker’s family Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service Thursday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at www.
