Gordon Dowell Geary, 83, of Centertown, went to his Heavenly home on Friday, July 27, 2018 at Ohio County Hospital in Hartford. He was born August 18, 1934 in Echols, Kentucky to the late Grealy and Lura Scott Geary. Gordon worked various jobs over his lifetime, including R.C. Bottling Company of Ohio County, H.B. Stanley Construction, he worked as a concrete finisher and as an underground coal miner at Peabody Alston #3 mines until they closed, but his main passion was buying, selling and trading cattle and making friends.

Mr. Geary was a member of New Assembly Church in Hartford. Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Timothy Dowell Geary; two sisters, Dorothy Abbott and Birdie Farris and two brothers, Elmer Ray Geary and Aubrey Dale Geary. The love that Gordon had for his family was undeniable.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of nearly 65 years, Kathleen Farris Geary of Centertown; four children, Gordon David (Teresa) Geary of Centertown, Phyllis Calloway of Beaver Dam, Kathy (John) Clark of Centertown and Debra (Patrick) James of Marion, Kentucky; three brothers, James L. (Lou) Geary of Echols, W.T. Geary of Echols and Homer (Peggy) Geary of Brandenburg and one sister, Alma (James) Goff of Beaver Dam. Gordon was blessed with twelve grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Gordon was loved and cherished by his family and will be deeply missed.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday, July 30, 2018 at New Assembly Church, 425 State Route 1543, Hartford, Kentucky 42347, with Rev. Lealin Geary and Rev. Earnest Whitely officiating.

Burial will follow in Echols Cemetery in Echols, Kentucky. Friends may visit with Mr. Geary’s family from 4-8 P.M. Sunday at New Assembly Church and from 9 A.M. until the time of service Monday at the church. William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam has been entrusted with the arrrangements.
