John Louis Curless January 01, 1947 – February 14, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card John Louis Curless, 72, a long-time resident of Macomb, passed away surrounded by family on February 14, 2019. He was born to Leslie and Doris (nee Stone) Curless on January 1, 1947, in Macomb. John worked for Laidlaw School District as a driver and enjoyed working with students and teachers.

He was a die-hard Bears fan, but also loved car shows and anything to do with Harley-Davidson. John answered the call of service to his country as a member of the Illinois National Guard out of Quincy. He was a Vietnam veteran and a member of American Legion Post #6.

John is remembered as a man who was outgoing and was known to do anything for anybody in need. He will be truly missed. John is survived by Judy (nee Willey), his devoted bride of 45 years.

He is the beloved and cherished father of Christine (Mark) Sullivan and Justin (Jennifer). His grandchildren, Taylyn, Alex, and Addison remember him as a loving and funny grandpa. John is the younger brother Roger (Marilyn), of Aurora, Illinois, and an amazing uncle to his nephews and nieces.

Please join John’s friends and family for a celebration of his life on Tuesday, February 19, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 pm at Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral home, 201 W. Carroll Street, Macomb. Funeral services will be held at the same location at 10:30 am on February 20, 2019. Interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery with full Military Rites.
