Kueppers, age 80 passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at Elroy Health Services, a caring and loving community nursing home in Elroy, Wisconsin. He was surrounded by family and friends. John was a gentle soul who dedicated his life to teaching in Elroy.

He loved to travel both home and abroad was one of his greatest passions he shared with his wife. John grew up in the Twin Cities and was a graduate of Cretin High School, College of St. Thomas. He taught high school for 34 years.

He loved following the Minnesota sports teams. In his free time he enjoyed catching that elusive walleye, winning “big” at a favorite casino or simply having a good meal and “pop” with no ice. John was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Kathleen, and brother Edward.

He is survived by his dedicated wife of 43 years, Rita Jeanne, brother Richard, nieces, nephews and many special friends including his beloved canine, Lucy. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at the Church of St. Peter, North St. Paul, MN where friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, North St. Paul, MN.
