John Maxwell Neal, Jr. age 70 of Chadbourn passed on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at Columbus Regional Hospital in Whiteville. A memorial service will be held at a later date. He was the son of the late Nell Elizabeth Kilpatrick Neal and John Maxwell Neal, Sr

He was a veteran of the US Army serving honorably in the Vietnam War. He is survived by a special friend, Debra N. Connor of Chadbourn; sister, Linda Neal Prosser of Lake Wylie, SC and a brother, Thomas R. Neal of Raleigh; three nieces, Rebecca Roland, Jessica Prosser and Kelsey Neal; nephew, Ryan Neal; and his devoted companion (pet), Louie. Worthington Funeral Home in Chadbourn is serving the family.
