Paul Thurman Hardie age 89, of Whiteville passed on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Angel House in Whiteville. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at Columbus Memorial Park in Whiteville. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Monday at Worthington Funeral Home in Chadbourn.

He was the husband of the late Mary Lou Summersett Hardie and Dora Lee Milligan Hardie and the son of the late Viola Best Hardie and William Henry Hardie. He was also preceded in death by a son, Ronald Keith Hardie; six siblings, June Hardie, Elbert Hardie, Ernest Hardie, Willie Hardie, Lucille H. Hewett and Cecil H. Gore. Over the years Mr. Hardie was employed by Braxton’s Auto parts, FCX, Anvil Knitwear, as a carpet installer and a retired farmer.

He is survived by a son, Donald Ray Hardie and his wife, Laura of Denton; two step-children; four grandchildren, Summer Nicole Millsap, Paul Nicklaus Hardie, Brandy Ray Hardie and Matthew Tanner Hardie; three great-grandchildren, Mylee Grace Millsap, Bella Hardie, Zane Ray Hardie. Memorials may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 206 Warrior Trail, Whiteville, NC 28472.
