John W. Cook, age 63, passed away in his home on Saturday, December 22, 2018. John was born April 11, 1955 in Charleston, West Virginia and was the son of the late James Wesley and Garnett Lee Cook and brother to Jim and Bob. He leaves behind his wife of 41 years, Denise Oyler Cook; his sons and daughters-in-law, Bartley and Jennifer Cook; Wesley Cook and Jami Johnston; his daughter Abbey Cook; four grandkids, Micah, Piper, Weston, and Colton John; and many close friends.

John… Read More » devoted his life to following Christ, loving his family, and serving others. He was a faithful husband, a loving father, and a fun “Pop” to his grandkids. John loved spending time at the lake with his family and traveling with his wife and friends.

You could often find John tinkering in his shop, enjoying friendly competition, or listening to music. John had a heart for missions and served as President of the Board of Directors for Simple Matters, a ministry serving villages in Honduras through partnerships with the local church. He was a member of Westwood Baptist Church in Roxboro, NC.

John graduated from West Virginia University in 1977. He worked as a Contracts Specialist for General Dynamics for 28 years. Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock Thursday, December 27, 2018 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel in Burlington with interment to follow in Alamance Memorial Park.
