Obituary of John Dwyer John ‘David’ Dwyer, passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at the age of 80. He was born June 29, 1937 in Schenectady, New York, to the late Elizabeth S. Dwyer and John J. Dwyer. Dave was a 1955 graduate of Mont Pleasant High School.

He graduated from St. Lawrence University in 1959 and began his career as a biology teacher and basketball coach at Cazenovia Central High School in NY while serving in the Army National Guard for two years. In 1963, he married Connie (Heath) Dwyer and they were married for 55 years. Joining Traveler’s Insurance Company in 1960, he remained for 37 years, retiring as a Vice President in 1997.

He considered his management of Traveler’s sponsorship of the Master’s Golf Tournament as one of his crowning achievements. In retirement Dave enjoyed traveling, fishing, golfing and spending time with his grandkids in both Naples, Florida and Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia. Dave was an avid basketball player in high school and college.

A semi pro tennis player and recreational snow and water skier. He also had a love of golf and being on the water as a salt water fisherman. He is survived by his wife Connie, his daughters Jennifer (Dwyer) Hernandez and Katie (Dwyer) Rodenbaugh.

He is also survived by his grandsons, Jack, Patrick and Shane Hernandez and granddaughters Ella and Erin Rodenbaugh. His nieces and nephews Patty Healey, Mark Dwyer, Susan Dalpino, Laurie Dwyer and Amy Dwyer. Dave will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a loving and proud father and grandfather, caring companion, a wonderful friend, successful businessman, an outdoorsman and a fantastic storyteller.
