Obituary for Joseph A. Doms Joseph A.Doms November 8, 1926-June 22, 2018 Joseph A. Doms, 91, of Mill Creek, passed away Friday, June 22, 2018 at Settlers Place. He was born November 8,1926 in Mill Creek, the son of Francis Doms and Bertha (Antoine) Doms. He retired from driving bus for La Porte Community Schools after 33 years of service and was also a retired farmer.
Joe was a lifetime resident of the Mill Creek area. On October 26, 1974, in New Carlisle, IN, he married Jean Kissinger Doms who preceded him in death . He is survived by his Two Daughters, Carolyn Doms, Connie (Tim) Ransom, Two Step-Daughters, Nancy Beatles and Diane (Hugh) Glasgow, Step-son, Ray (Carolyn ) Kissinger, Brother, Victor Doms along with many Grandchildren, Great grandchildren, Great Great Grandchildren and several Nieces and Nephews.
Joe is preceded in death by his Brother, Camiel Doms, Sisters Rosemarie, Mary Vantine and Akice Goethals and his Step Daughter Evelyn Janisch. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave. , La Porte, where the family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 beginning at 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A life celebration will follow on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
Interment will follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery, Mill Creek. He knew how to make you giggle, that little roll of his eyes and shrugging of his shoulders were never far behind. Watching deer and turkey roam in his fields was one of his favorite past times.
He cherished his home and land. Hunting, fishing and farming was in his blood. Most of all, we will miss his ever presence in our everyday life.
His warm smile and strength were always heartfelt. His hospitality was always generous. He will be abundantly missed.
