Obituary for Joseph Finnegan Joseph Finnegan, 55, of Colchester, VT passed away October 7, 2018 surrounded by his loving family and friends following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Burlington, VT on October 15, 1962 to the late John and Elizabeth Finnegan. Joseph grew up in Colchester and graduated from Rice Memorial High School in 1980.

He was the owner of Finnegan Construction in Colchester and loved helping his family at Finny’s Fine Foods at the Champlain Valley Fair for nearly two decades. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family and friends. Joe leaves behind his wife and companion, Jodie Finnegan, his son Justin Finnegan from, his daughter Jessica DeForge and his two step sons, Joshua Jarvis and Jay Jarvis as well as his five brothers, John, Jr. and wife Laurie, Charlie and wife Ann, Jeffrey, Patrick and Thomas, many cousins, nieces and nephews, and aunts and uncles as well as extended family and countless friends.

Joe leaves this world a better place. He loved his family and friends beyond compare. He loved working and took tremendous pride in “doing it the right way”.

He loved his trips to Florida, and he loved being in charge! He hugged freely, talked openly and never left you wondering what was on his mind. The best days were when he was feeding as many people as he could fit into his and Jodie’s farmhouse in Colchester….

legendary roast beef and all the side dishes. All who attended those feasts will never forget them. The family would like to thank all the wonderful and caring staff at the Visiting Nurses Association for the care and compassion they gave to Joseph in the final months of life.

Their help, patience and kindness were invaluable. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm Thursday October 11 at LaVigne Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 132 Main St, Winooski, VT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM Friday October 12 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Winooski, VT.
