Obituary for JOSEPH J. NOVERINI Joseph John Noverini, 94, joined his wife in heaven on October 1, 2018. A longtime resident of Camillus, NY, Joe grew up in Jessup, PA, the eldest of four children. He was born on September 23, 1924, graduated from Jessup High School, and enlisted in the United States Navy on August 5, 1943 at the age of 18.

He served on the USS McNair, and was awarded the Pacific Theater Ribbon (8 stars), American Theater Ribbon, Victory Medal, and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon (2 stars). After the war, Joe married his sweetheart, Virginia (Bisaccia) Noverini, in Cortland, NY. They had two daughters and moved to Camillus in 1956.

He taught his family the meaning of hard work and is fondly remembered for his many years of service to both Carrier Corporation and Sears. Joe enjoyed watching the Yankees, the Mets, and Syracuse Basketball, long neighborhood walks, and took pride in house projects. He was best known by his family for his quiet demeanor and witty humor.

Joe was the son of the late Mario and Julia (Howanitz) Noverini, and is preceded in death by his sister, Margaret “Tootsie” Budzinski, and his wife, Virginia, whom he was married to for 72 years. He is survived by his two daughters, BJ (Jan) Elessar, of Hawaii and Wendy Drescher, of Camillus, NY; a granddaughter, Erica (Chase) McCann, of Washington, DC; a sister, Matilda (Joe) Dubiel, of Peckville, PA; and a brother, Mario “Junior” (Susan) Noverini, of Flores Del Norte, FL. Private funeral services were followed by the Rite of Committal in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Cortland with Military Honors.
