Obituary of Mary Bromka Mary J. Bromka, 85, of DeWitt, passed away Friday, November 16, 2018 in Liverpool, with her grown children by her side. Born January 6, 1933 in North Tonawanda, Mary was the daughter of Felix and Victoria Litwinska Belczak. A devoted mother, wife and homemaker, she later enjoyed working in the food service industry at Walter White’s Restaurant, Drumlins Country Club and Syracuse University, retiring in 1992.

Mary was a devout parishioner of Holy Cross Church in DeWitt and Pope John XXIII Church in Liverpool. Mary was an engaged, nurturing mother who went to great lengths to support and encourage her children’s education and aspirations. She was a kind, loving, selfless woman who was always quick to help others.

Mary loved cooking and sharing food with family and friends. In her last year, she was warmly and expertly cared for by the wonderful staff at Elderwood at Liverpool. Mary is survived by two loving sons, John E. Bromka, Jr. (Sondra) of Marcellus and Joseph J. Bromka of Richmond, VT; a devoted daughter, Cynthia Bromka-Skafidas of Liverpool; a cherished granddaughter, Katherine Skafidas of Liverpool; two beloved sisters, Regina (Charles) Foti and Florence Symes, both of North Tonawanda; and several nieces and nephews.

Mary was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, John E. Bromka, Sr. in 2001; her infant son, David Bromka; three brothers, Felix, Casimir and Joseph Belczak; and her son-in-law, George Skafidas. Private services will be held at Fairchild & Meech DeWitt Chapel, followed by entombment in St. Mary’s Cemetery Mausoleum. Per Mary’s request, there are no public calling hours.
