Obituary of John Haylor John E. Haylor, 55 of Syracuse, passed away on November 10, 2018 due to complications from pneumonia. He was born October 13, 1963, to Burnett “Bud” and Nancy (Knodel) Haylor of Syracuse, N.Y. After graduating from Westhill High School, John attended Northeastern University and Emerson College. Shortly after graduation, he moved to Provincetown, Mass.

where he lived for 10 years before returning to Syracuse. John’s exceptional capacity for human compassion lead him to St. Joseph’s College of Nursing where he earned a degree as a registered nurse. With his caring nature and deep spirituality, he found his calling at Hospice of Central New York.

John believed it was truly a privilege to provide end-of-life care, bringing comfort and support to patients and their families. John loved traveling, reading, music, good movies and being in the company of those he loved. John loved everybody and everybody loved John.

He was wickedly funny, and his vibrant personality drew everyone in. John was kind and gentle too, a sweet soul always creating magic on his joyful adventure through life. He is predeceased by his father, Bud Haylor and sister, Tracy Haylor Rainbow.

He is survived by his mother, Nancy Haylor; sisters, Deborah Haylor McDowell and Linda Haylor Mikula (Joe); nephew, Vincent Mikula and niece, Sonia Rainbow. In lieu of flowers, gifts or volunteer time may be made in John’s name to your favorite charity. There will be no calling hours and a private service will be held in celebration of John’s life.
