Joseph “Joe” Gelarden, 71, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Select Specialty Hospital after a brief illness. Joe was born in Evansville, Indiana on April 16, 1947 to the late Cyril and Beatrice (Blair) Gelarden. After high school Joe was drafted in the United States Army where he honorably served in Vietnam.

Joe was the “go to” person when any item needed attention, not only for his family, but anyone in need. He was a loving husband and father that fully dedicated 48 years of his life to his wife and sons. He was so proud to have three grandchildren that he cherished and spent time with them any chance he had.

Joe attended St. Anthony Catholic Church and was a longtime member of St. Theresa Church. Joe is survived by his wife of 48 years, Connie (Kramer) Gelarden of Evansville, IN; sons Dan Gelarden (Jolene) of Munster, IN and Randy Gelarden (Amy) of Lombard, IL; and grandchildren, Bryce, Ellie and George Gelarden. Joe was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave. , Evansville, IN 47711. Burial will follow at Locust Hill Cemetery where the Retired Veterans Memorial Club will conduct military rites.

Friends may visit from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, January 4, 2019 at Browning Funeral Home and again from 9:00 AM until service time on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl. , Memphis, TN 38105.
