Joseph E. Scheithauer, 90, Athens died Sunday, June 17, 2018 at his home while under the care of Hope Hospice and Palliative Care. He was born November 13, 1927 in Rib Lake, son of the late Joseph E. and Marcella B. (Jarchow) Scheithauer. On September 15, 1951 he married Marcella Westfall in Rib Lake.

She survives. In his younger years Joe worked with his father logging in the woods and also drove truck delivering milk and other products to those in need. He later went on to work at Continental Can in Milwaukee until the time of his retirement.

Some of his favorite pastimes included hunting, fishing and working out in the woods. He also enjoyed sharing his knowledge of nature and hunting with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Joe proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1945 until 1947.

Survivors include his wife Marcella Scheithauer, one daughter; Pam (Dean) Mancl, 3 grandchildren; Tabetha (Joe) Schultz, Chad (Jackie) Mancl, Maranda Mancl, and 9 great grandchildren; Erica Shultz, William Schultz, David Schultz, Andrew Schultz, Charlie Schultz, Harrison Mancl, Logan Mancl, Cameryn Mancl, Emerson Mancl, and his siblings; Kenneth (Gerri) Scheithauer, Herbert (Ruth) Scheithauer, Alice Smola, Barb Steinman, Dennis (Kathy) Scheithauer, Allen (Linda) Scheithauer, and Durana Dentz. Joe was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Lonnie and his siblings; Bernadine Brahmer, Marvin Scheithauer, Robert Scheithauer, and Vera Hoffmann. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Saturday June 30th, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Athens.

The Rev. Mark Schwalenberg will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Grafton.

Friends and family may call to the church at 11:00 am until the time of service. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed at www.
