Joyce Grissett, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away December 12th, 2018 at 8pm, peacefully in her sleep. Born January 16th, 1939, as the eldest of 14 children, she made many accomplishments during her 79 years. Joyce graduated from Mercy Academy and continued her education at Spencerian College to pursue her career as a certified medical assistant.

Joyce will be remembered for her twisted sense of humor and her ability to always see the very best in everyone. She left us with so much valuable wisdom and many fond memories. She also left her family with many of her “treasures”, but they have no idea what to do with it all.

While Joyce’s greatest joy in life was her family, she also enjoyed attending Sunday mass and bingo sessions. She was very passionate about her family history and researching genealogy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Conrad Kaiser Jr, and Susan Mary (Smith) Kaiser; son, Michael Grissett; sisters, Mary Suzanne Petrella, and Olivia Schultz.

Joyce is survived by her loving husband of 18 years, Vernon Weird Jr; Children, Susan Hargrove (children Jessica, Nichole, Ben), Charles Grissett Jr (children Al, Daylene), Monica Burt (children Vanessa, Felicia, Alex), Calista Robey (James; children Danielle, Ashley, Nathan, James), and Sylvia Muncy (Johnny; children Michael, Kathryn, Theresa, Thomas, Rebecca, Grant); Lurinda (Michael deceased; children Erica, Michael, Emily, Daniel); brothers, Albert C. Kaiser III (Connie), Robert Neil Kaiser (Margaret), and Michael Lee Kaiser; sisters, Sylvia Ann Wheeler (Frank), Jane Lynn Thompson, Julia Ann Allen (David), and Mary Regina Bottom (James); 20 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive. Joyce will be missed dearly by the many people whose lives she touched. She was surrounded with love and laughter in life and in the time of death.

Visitation will be 1-5pm Sunday at Ratterman Keenan Southwest Chapels, 4832 Cane Run Road. Her funeral mass will be 10am Monday, December 17, 2018 at St. Peter the Apostle, 5431 Johnsontown Road with burial in Bethany Cemetery to follow.
