Grote, Jr. and wife, Debbie; nephew Ken Prigge and wife Sharon, as well as numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. Also surviving is her best friend and companion, Jo Wilson.

As a young adult she worked many years as an accountant/office manager for Holland Page, an Austin road contractor. She was an avid deer hunter but no “headhunter” and more important than the hunt was the use of the animal, which she knew from A-Z. She knew how to shoot, properly dress, butcher, preserve, and make sausage from cutting the meat to stuffing the links, even smoking it. She created a spiral notebook of the entire procedure, including how to clean the casings, seasonings, smoke time, etc.

, with notations on do’s and don’t’s each season, as well as how many pounds were processed. Annual good times were enjoyed when Dolores, Joyce, Butch, and other family members were making sausage. A private family graveside service will be held Thursday.
