Ruth Lee (Boyd) Follis April 05, 1925 – February 17, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries Ruth Lee Boyd Follis, 93, of Mill Creek Community, Washington County, went to be with her Lord on February 17, 2019. She was born in Alvin, Texas, April 5, 1925, the fifth child of Rollin Lee and Virginia Harness Boyd. She grew up in the Hastings Community in Alvin and the Oklahoma Community in Montgomery County.

She attended Chigger Schools in Alvin and Oklahoma Community School in Magnolia and graduated from Tomball High School. She was the 4-H Gold Star Girl for Montgomery County in 1943. Lured by a Navy uniform, she married T.R. Follis on April 17, 1944 at First Baptist Church in Tomball, Texas.

When T.R.’s ship started coming into New York, Ruth moved to New York so they could have some time together, Ruth spent about 6 winter months in New York and was happy to come back to Tomball. After completing his service in the Navy, they began a dairy business in Tomball and in 1956 moved the dairy business to Brenham. They got to do a lot of traveling to the AMPI Meetings and Red and White Dairy Cattle Association.

After retiring from the dairy business, they traveled with the Good Sam’s Travel Club. Ruth was an active member of The Greenvine Baptist Church and helped many years with Vacation Bible School and the Women’s Ministries. She was a faithful Prayer Warrior in her later years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, T.R. Follis; infant daughter; Joan Follis; and her parents; along with four brothers, Robert Boyd, John Boyd, Sam Boyd and Raymond Boy, two sisters, Mary Colston and Elsie Lou Spaw; and two sons-in-law, Marvin Schulte and David Demuth. She is survived by her daughters, Bobbie Schulte, Becky Demuth and Nancy Schubert and son-in-law; Joseph Schubert; and her remaining sister, Betty Carraway. She is also survived by her four granddaughters, Sally and Terry Clifton, Lisa and Juan Medellin, Susan and Michael Stanislaw, and Paula Sherrouse; eight great-grandchildren; Nicholas, Mindy and Alex Demuth, Taylor Sherrouse, Kayla and Makenna Wessinger and Olivia and Travis Clifton.

Her one great-great grandchild; Alana Demuth. Along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services for Ruth Follis will be held at Greenvine Baptist Church, 5010 FM 2502, Burton, Tx; on Thursday, February 21st, at 2 pm with graveside services to follow at the church cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Feb. 20 from 4-7 pm at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Pallbearers: Joseph Schubert, Terry Clifton, Michael Stanislaw, Nick Demuth, Travis Clifton, Rollin Boyd.

Honorary Pallbearers: Juan Medellin and Alex Demuth. Memorials may be given to Greenvine Baptist Church. Funeral arrangements for Ruth Follis are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., Brenham, TX, 979-836-4564.
