Joye Faulkner 1929-2018 At the age of 89, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend passed away peacefully on July 26, 2018 in West Haven, Utah. It will be a joyful greeting as she meets her family on the other side. Joye was born on June 9, 1929 to Frank and Lucille Faulkner.

She spoke often of her “perfect childhood” when she climbed trees, went to the movies downtown, listened to the radio with her sisters, and ran errands for her beloved mother. Joye said of her family of 14, that they grew up poor, but they never felt poor. Joye graduated from Ogden High and married her high school sweetheart, Joe Cope.

Together they had three sons: Scott (deceased), David, and Brett. She worked at Vetus Drive Inn, and then in the labs at Weber and Paramount Superior Dairies, where she excelled due to her love of math and science. Joye graduated from Hollywood Beauty School, where she later became an instructor.

She continued to work at various salons before opening The Boutique Beauty Salon in 1969. Joye loved people, so she loved being a hairdresser. Joye married Darrell Godfrey and together they had two sons, Mitchell and Jeff.

She worked at Wasatch Data from 1983-2017, when she suffered a severe stroke at age 87. She was a wonderful mother who worked hard to support her four sons. She was a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother, who was quick to bring a pot of chicken soup or rock a baby.

She was a member of the LDS church and spent much of her time serving and visiting the widows in her ward. She also served a church mission at the Family History Library in Salt Lake and as an ordinance worker in the Ogden Temple. Joye was a strong woman with a big heart and wonderful laugh.

She will be deeply missed by all that knew her. Joye leaves behind her children David (Sandra) Cope, Brett (Katherine) Cope, Mitchell (Stacy) Godfrey, Jeff (Julie) Godfrey, siblings Connie Reeder, Brent (Cinda) Faulkner, Susan (Glen) Lueders, Michael (Susan) Faulkner, Debra Danielsen, 17 grandchildren, and 31 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her son Scott, and siblings Dolores (Dee) Crockett, Richard, Beth Snow, Wayne, Max, and Gregory.

Services will be held Thursday, August 2, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the Kanesville Stake Center, 4555 W. 4000 S. West Haven. Viewings will be held at the stake center on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 p.m., and Thursday, August 2, 2018 from 11:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m. The family would like to thank the staff at Lotus Park and Aspen Ridge Hospice for the wonderful care they provided, with special thanks to Mary Lou, Autumn, and Ty for their love and support.
