Two little girls, born minutes apart, on the evening of March 26, 1925. One was called home just fourteen months later, the other continued to love and be loved for another 93 years. June Haase was born to Gould Scott and Helen Hibler in Hubbard, Ohio where she lived and grew up with her older brother Kenneth on a farm.
She and her mother worked at the Astatic Corp. in Youngstown and then followed the company’s move to Conneaut about 1944. Two years later, she met and married her first husband and in time, became the mother of five children.
In keeping with other women of her era, she stayed at home to raise her family. She learned to stretch her budget to feed and take care of her household, enjoyed sewing dresses for her two girls, saw to it that everyone ate dinner together each night, and always kept the cookie jar filled. Once her children were older, she decided to become a bus driver for the school system.
She held that job for several years and then went to work at the GE plant in town, where she retired in 1987. Not ready to give up working, she went on to become an excellent realtor…a profession she thoroughly enjoyed. With free time on her hands, she began sewing again making curtains for every room in her house, knitting gloves in the winter, crocheting, and many crafts.
She had a knack for making a room feel cozy and warm, including her final room at the Ashtabula County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. After the death of her husband she married Fred Hopkins, a wonderful husband to her. After his death, she married Siegfried Haase who was with her until she was called home.
Loved ones who wait for her in heaven include her parents, brother Kenneth, husbands Raymond Marvin and Fred Hopkins, and two sons, James and Raymond. Left behind to remember her with love are her daughters, Beth (Dillon) Hickman, Nancy Snyder (who was always there for Mom whenever she needed her) and her son, Paul Marvin; eight grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She had numerous friends and leaves behind many she knew for years.
She was a long-time member of the United Methodist Church – the latest being New Leaf United Methodist Church – and attended faithfully for as long as she was able. The family would like to thank the staff at the ACNRC for all they did to make her last two years as comfortable as possible and for the loving care they showed her. Funeral will be 1:00 PM Monday November 26, 2018 at the Marcy Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Rev.
Jan Walsh officiating. Family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until time of service on Monday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Glenwood cemetery.
