Ellis, 77, of Pleasant Prairie, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at her residence. She was born on May 27, 1941 to the late Frank and Mabel (Meredith) Gitzlaff in Bristol. She was educated in Bristol and graduated as Valedictorian from Central High School in 1958.

Karen married Ray Ellis and they later divorced. Karen worked at the Pleasant Prairie Fire Department as a dispatcher and then as a clerk of court for Pleasant Prairie Municipal. Karen was a former member of the Pleasant Prairie Fireman’s Auxiliary.

Karen enjoyed bowling and was on several leagues, gardening and tending to her yard. She also enjoyed going out once a month with her high school friends. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.

Karen is survived by her daughter Doreen (Jeffery) Burns of Wilmot, her granddaughters Rebecca (Cory) Sharrard and Amanda Burns and her great grandsons Aaron and Dexter Sharrard. She is also survived by her brothers-in-law Art (Karen) Ellis. James Ellis and Glen Gieseke and her sister-in-law Diane Ellis.

She is preceded in death by her sister-in-law Beverly Gieseke and her brother-in-law David Ellis. Funeral Services for Karen will be held on Thursday, December 27th at 1:00 p.m. at the Hansen-Lendman Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Bristol-Paris Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
