Obituary for Karen Sue Koontz MUNCIE, Ind. – Karen Sue Koontz, a.k.a. Biggs, Blair, Saylor, and Swain, passed away of a cerebral aneurysm Saturday, June 9, 2018, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie. Born April 18, 1958, at Reid Memorial Hospital in Richmond, Indiana, she was 60 years, one month, and 22 days old.

Survivors include her sons, Kenny A. Biggs of Kennard, Indiana, Russell E. (Tammie) Biggs of Richmond, and Alex M. (Amanda J. Booker) Biggs of Kennard; grandsons, Kamron D.A. Biggs of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Sgt Timothy L. Philbeck of Marine Corps Base Quantico in Virginia; siblings, David M. Bailey of Marin County, California, Alicia L. Bailey of Inverness, Florida, Beverly Groff (whereabouts unknown), Charles I. Koontz of Sarasota, Florida, and Sandra K. Koontz Mayberry of Ocala, Florida; seven nieces; eight nephews; and eight cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Loran A. and Elizabeth L. Fye Bailey Groff Koontz; siblings, Loretta J. Koontz, Kent A. Koontz, Capt W. Eugene Bailey, USMC (Ret), and Allen K. Bailey; maternal grandparents, Harry E. and Edna M. Fye; paternal grandparents, Ervin C. and Emma A. Koontz; nephew; 10 aunts and uncles; and three cousins. Karen’s immediate family would like to invite relatives and friends to a memorial gathering for Karen Sue Koontz from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, December 28, 2018, at Central United Methodist Church, 1425 East Main Street, Richmond.

A Celebration of Life service will follow at 6:30 p.m. at the church. Attendees are encouraged to share stories or speak of their memories or experiences with Karen. A reception will be held in the fellowship hall after the service.
