Obituary for Karen Suzi” Estes Karen “Suzi” (Whitaker) Estes, 55, a loving mother and grandmother passed away on December 18, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer in Anderson. She was born on October 12, 1963, the daughter of Jack and Dorothy Whitaker in Gary, Indiana. Suzi resided in Anderson most of her life, but also lived in Austin, Texas and Port St. Joe, Florida.

Suzi was a 1981 graduate of Madison Heights High School where she sang in the concert choir. She later attended Ball State University. Besides being a homemaker for three boys, Suzi worked at the Allstate insurance agency that she and her husband Rodger founded.

Later she became a licensed agent there. Afterwards, she worked in real estate in northern Florida and, most recently, she was a supervisor at Republic Services in Fishers. In her younger years, Suzi modeled in fashion shows for the Dorothy Blevins Shoppe and also at the Elder-Beerman department store in Anderson.

She attended the North Anderson Church of God. One of Suzi’s greatest joys was spending time with her grandchildren. She had a lively playfulness that they all loved.

She also loved to go camping and kayaking with her family, mostly in Southern Indiana, and also enjoyed spending time at the beach. She will also be remembered for the love for her friends and her vivacious personality. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rodger Estes; father, Jack Whitaker M.D.; mother, Dorothy Whitaker; mother-in-law Rosie Estes; and infant grandson Boone Estes.

Suzi is survived by her loving sons, Colin, Cody and Carson Estes, of Anderson; and grandchildren, Cameron, Baileigh, and Mckaylynn of Middletown. Other surviving family members include: sisters Kathy Butler of Olathe, KS, Diane (Tim) Gray of Marion, Debra Whitaker of Berry, KY; brother Kirk Whitaker of Anderson; and father-in-law Ray Estes of Ft. Myers, FL.

A celebration of Suzi’s life will be held Saturday, Dec. 29th from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Carriage House at Loose Funeral Home 200 West 53rd St., Anderson. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Karen Suzi” Estes please visit our Sympathy Store.
