Karie’s Obituary Karie Kay Methfessel Ridgley (4/18/1956 – 1/28/2019) born and raised in rural New Hartford, Iowa, daughter of Ervin and Millicent Methfessel passed away early Monday evening surrounded by her two children Trevor and Jennifer, son-in-law Joe, and two cats Dino and Enzo. She is survived by her brother, Don Methfessel. She was a loving, devoted mother to her children and committed, loyal employee to Mill Creek Residential for 29 years.

She enjoyed cruising in her 1981 black Corvette to the sound of AC/DC’s “Back in Black” through her customized sound system, spending time with her family, and playing bocce ball, even winning the Foster City Annual Ultimate Bocce Championship in 2016. She remained a child at heart despite the pressures of raising two children in the Bay Area as a single mother. Her joyous laughter, innate ability to plan elaborate parties and holiday games, and love for showering family and friends with the most thoughtful and creative gifts will forever be remembered and missed.

We will always appreciate the sacrifices she made for us and will forever cherish the wonderful memories we shared with her. Funeral services were held Saturday, February 2, 2019, at Crippen & Flynn Carlmont Chapel in Belmont, California. Funeral service in Iowa will be 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 9, 2019, at Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home with burial at Lynwood Cemetery both in Clarksville.
