Obituary for Kathleen Boyd Ms. Kathleen Boyd, age 95, of the Horton Ridge section of Swords Creek, VA passed away Monday, October 29, 2018 in an Abingdon, Virginia hospital following a lengthy illness. She was born in Swords Creek, VA and was the daughter of the late Clarence Reedy and Mirah Perkins. Kathleen was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was a member of Horton Ridge Church of God. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family and a lifetime resident of the area.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband McKinley Boyd; daughter, Janice Hess; son, Larry Boyd; four sisters, Juanita Sauls, Magaleen McGlothlin, Dorothy Horn, Thelma Hess; brothers, Lance Perkins, Ruley Mickles; one granddaughter; and two grandsons. Those who remain to carry on her spirit are her: Daughters: Brenda Shortt of Honaker, VA Janet Clark and husband, Junior of Cleveland, VA Doloras Miller of Richlands, VA Linda Wells and husband, Donnie of Richlands, VA Judy Keen and husband, Danny of Swords Creek, VA Sons: James Strouth and wife, Mary of Mt. Airy, Maryland Sherman Strouth of Colonial Beach, VA Darrell Boyd and wife, Delores of Richlands, VA Daughter-in-law, Linda Boyd of Cedar Bluff, VA.
Son-in-Law, Danny Hess of Swords Creek, VA Special friend and neighbor, Larry Kiser Also surviving are 21 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren, 26 great great-grandchildren and one great great great-grandchild. The funeral service for Kathleen Boyd will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Friday, November 2, 2018 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Dennis White and Rev.
Bill Fletcher officiating. Interment will follow at the Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, Virginia. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
