Mrs. Kathleen “Kathy” Barker Sapp, age 71, of Warrensville, NC, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 7, 2018, after her recent hospitalization at Novant Rowan Regional Hospital in Salisbury, NC. Mrs. Sapp was born on November 12, 1946, in Ashe County to the late Ilene and Lee Barker. She was married for 50 years to her late husband, James Delbert Sapp.

They made their home in Kannapolis for 40 years where she retired from Cannon Mills. They then returned home to Ashe County where she worked and retired from Ashe Memorial Hospital in Jefferson. Kathy is survived by her two sons, Jimmy Sapp and wife Liz of Kannapolis and Jeff Sapp and wife Georgann of Kannapolis; two grandsons, Joshua Dale Sapp and Justin Dane Sapp of Kannapolis; one step-granddaughter, Aspen King of Kannapolis; one great-granddaughter, Giuliana Marie Sapp of Kannapolis; two sisters, Arlena Creasman (husband, Lamar) of North Wilkesboro and Janet Hartsog of West Jefferson.

Also surviving are several special nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 10 at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. Ken Furches.

Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday prior to the service at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Friends of Ashe County Library, 148 Library Drive, West Jefferson, NC 28694.
