Obituary of Kathryn Rose Kathryn J. Rose (Goodreau), 67, passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, December 21, 2018. She was pre-deceased by her devoted husband of 35-years, Donald Rose, beloved in-laws Arland (Art) and Alice Rose and best friend of 40-years, Janiene (Jan) Bostwick. Kathy was born on February 17, 1951 in Wellsboro, PA and is survived by her loving Corning family: mother Ferne L. Goodreau, children Melissa Rose (Jason Hunt), Kristina (Gregory) Bethka, Brian Rose and her three adored grandchildren, Madison Rose and Drew and Avery Bethka, sister-in-law Linda Rose of Green Valley, AZ, four brothers Thomas (Lou Ann) Goodreau of Sinking Springs, PA, Kevin (Claudia) Goodreau of Albuquerque, NM, Dr. Scott (Michelle) Goodreau of Oakdale, CA and Glenn (Tonya) Goodreau of Falls Church, VA.

Several nieces and nephews, Nicole (Michael) Rogers, Natalie Goodreau, Michelle Goodreau, Sarah Goodreau, Griffin (Kathryn) Goodreau, Steven Goodreau, Paul Goodreau and Mia Goodreau. A special mention of appreciation and love to longtime family friends Rick Bostwick of Corning, Debbie Hall of Corning and Tracey Moison of Los Altos, CA. Kathy received her Associates Degree from Corning Community College and was employed by Family Service Society in Corning for many years and Rose’s Bookkeeping & Tax Service in Corning where she supported the family business in operation for more than 40 years.

Kathy’s greatest joy, however, was her role as a stay-at-home mother, always arranging her work-life around the needs of her children. Family-life was central and was always Kathy and Don’s priority and greatest joy. “Grandma Kathy” embraced every day, enjoying her family to the fullest, taking her grandchildren on wild scooter rides around the neighborhood, planning birthday parties, holidays and shopping sprees in town.

Despite her ongoing challenges with Multiple Sclerosis, she lived a joyous and full independent life and was an active member of the Corning YMCA. Her stories of “senior antics” in the pool always brought a laugh. Her forever home was in Corning, but her adventurous spirit and the love of her West Coast family led her to spend winters in California and Arizona where she traded in her scooter for a golf cart and basked in the sun.

She liked to say she was “made for sunny days! ” A celebration of life is scheduled at the Radisson Hotel Corning on Saturday, January 5, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in memory of Kathryn J. Rose: www. nationalmssociety.org.
