Lanie Philip Loflin, 70, of Salisbury, formerly of Yadkin County, passed away Saturday, June 30, 2018, at Rowan Regional Medical Center from pancreatic cancer. He was born in Surry County on June 5, 1948, the son of Turner Delano Loflin and Annie Caudle Loflin. He served in the United States Marine Corp where he attained the rank of Corporal.

He was a Vietnam War Veteran and a recipient of the following medals: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Purple Heart Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. His passion was planting and growing vegetables and beautiful flowers. He definitely inherited his grandmother’s “green thumb”.

Preceding him in death were his father, one brother, Sammy Loflin, his paternal grandparents, Hugh and Flossie Loflin of the Courtney Community, and his maternal grandparents, Fassett and Stannie Caudle of the Long Hickory Community. He is survived by his mother, Annie Caudle Wright of Harmony; one brother, Dane Loflin (Rehna) of Rock Hill, SC; seven sisters: Joan Holyfield (Jimmie) of East Bend, Connie Vestal (Dan) of Jonesville, Elaine Moore (Bill) of Atlanta, Maria Knight (Larry) and Malissa Godbey (Edward), of Mocksville, Malinda Wright of Charlotte and Joy Perrotti (Dave) of Oakland, CA; plus several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends that he loved dearly. Service arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Hospice of Rowan County, 720 Grove St., Salisbury, NC 28144. Davie Funeral Service of Mocksville is serving the Loflin family. Condolences may be posted online at www.
