Obituary for Larry Eugene Buoy Larry Eugene Buoy departed his Earthly home for his Heavenly home on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at Good Samaritan Society Perkins Village in Hastings Nebraska. Funeral Services will be Thursday, November 29, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Bassett with Rev. Paul Nauman and Pastor Byerly officiating.

Visitation will be Thursday, November 29, 2018 from 10 a.m. until service time at the church. A private family burial will happen at a later date. Burial will be in the Aurora Cemetery.

Larry Eugene Buoy was born on June 14, 1949 in Ainsworth, Nebraska to Floyd E. and Neva B. (Diehl) Buoy. Larry grew up south of Bassett, and attended a country school near Bassett until the third grade. He then attended Bassett Grade School and graduated from Rock County High School in 1967.

Following his graduation, Larry attended SCC in Milford, earning his associates degree in Electronics Communications. He then earned his 1st class FCC license, which he was very proud of. Larry held many jobs in the electronics industry.

He worked for NETV as a technician, he worked for a TV and appliance store, then he eventually owned and operated Buoy’s TV Clinic, until changing the name to Buoy’s TV and Appliance. Larry also worked for the Post Office in Ainsworth and then became the Post Master first at Long Pine and then at Bassett. He also had a small cattle operation while living in an earth sheltered home, he built on his parents’ home place.

Larry would marry Lynda L. Kroeger, and they remained married for 30 years. While married, Larry adopted Lynda’s son Lance. Following their marriage, Larry would meet the love of his life.

On October 19, 2001 in Ainsworth, Larry married his soulmate, Donna Rudy. After his retirement in 2005, Larry and Donna moved to Grand Island, where he worked in the simulcast area of Fonner Park for 6 years. In 2009, Larry and Donna moved to Giltner.

Donna passed away in 2012. Larry remained in Giltner until 2018, when he moved to Hastings. Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Lance (Christina) Buoy of Hildreth; granddaughter Ashley (Adam) Stauffer of Bloomington, MN; sister, Jannett (Lucky) Schneberger of Pueblo, CO; special friend, Barb Porter of Hastings; several step children and step grandchildren as well as many family and friends whose lives he has touched over the years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Donna; and brothers, Kennith Buoy and LeRoy Buoy. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Rock County Foundation or the Giltner Fire Department. Condolences can be sent to the family at www.
