Lavere’s Obituary Lavere L. Brick, age 86 of Davis, IL, passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at Medina Manor in Durand. He was born on January 6, 1932; the son of Charles and Violet (Henze) Brick. He had served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954, stationed at Fort Bliss, TX and in Germany.

In his early days he hauled milk with his father who owned his business. He hauled milk to Pecatonica and Rockford for Dean’s. He also worked for Fairbanks Morse in Freeport.

Lavere later worked for and retired from Illinois Wholesale Liquor in Rockford. After retiring he also worked at the Rockford Speedway. His memberships include the VFW Local 998 of Freeport, National Shelby American Club, Teamsters Local 325, Disabled American Veterans, and he was a 60 year member of the Stephenson County Farm Bureau.

He enjoyed attending auto shows twice a year at Columbus, OH with his special friends, Charles Crase and Bruce Miller. He was never a stranger to anyone and was truly a people person. He had a great sense of humor and always had a joke.

He loved reminiscing with his sister Joyce and brother Dalon about memories of growing up. He was known for his famous saying, “Keep your chin up and keep smiling”. Lavere is survived by his brothers, Richard (Sue) Brick and Dalon (Linda) Brick; sisters, Doris Clark, Joyce (Jim) Niedermeier, Sandra (Jim) Paul, and Linda Johnson; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Burdette; and sister, Phyllis. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Dakota, IL with a visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place at the Davis Cemetery in Davis, IL. A memorial fund has been established in his name.
