Lavon Lowder Arnold of Bluefield, VA, born May 22, 1933, to Bowen and Virginia Sutherland Lowder of Bluefield, West Virginia, stepped into the presence of her Savior on Monday February 18, 2019. Lavon grew up in Bluefield, WV; and worked for various businesses and doctor’s offices through the years. What many Bluefield residents remember her for is Peppe’s Pizza where she and her husband provided delicious pizza to the community in the 70s.

In more recent years she would have been known for her Mary Kay business. She was an active member of Parkview Baptist Church in Bluefield, VA, for many years, but also had ties to East End Baptist Church, Calvary Baptist Church, and Edgemont Baptist Church. In addition to her parents Lavon was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Don Arnold.

She is survived by her two daughters, Jennifer (Vern) Hancock of Simi Valley, CA, and Dawn (Jack) Peters of Sandston, VA, and two grandsons, Joshua and Adam; as well as a brother, Robert (Louise) Lowder and two sisters, Caretta Gills and Dorcas Aliff. Funeral services will be held on Friday February 22, 2019 at 11:00 AM from the Mercer Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim Drake officiating.

Entombment will follow at Roselawm Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 – 8 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations be made in Lavon’s memory to the Abel Crisis Pregnancy Center, 201 Sylvia Lane, Bluefield, WV 24701; or to the Lottie Moon Offering, International Mission Board, PO Box 6767, Richmond, VA.
