Hardy, VA – Virginia Lee Smith 87 of Hardy, Virginia died Friday March 29, 2019 at her residence. Born June 4, 1931 in Princeton, WV she was a daughter of the late Thurman Jefferson Bowling and Virginia Grace Thompson Bowling. Virginia was a graduate of Princeton High School and Concord College and taught high school business classes in Mercer County Schools for 35 years.

She was a passionate bridge and Chinese checkers player and her love for family and friends was boundless. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Malcolm Leo Smith. She is survived by her four children: Cathye and David Mahood, Todd and Karen Smith, Layne and Guy Ferguson and Lee Ann and Des Connolly; 7 grandchildren: Chad, Jill, Brendan, Lauren, Devin, Justin and Steven; 5 great-grandchildren: Noah, Stephanie, Sophia, Brett and Cassius.

A Celebration of life will be held on Tuesday April 2, 2019 at 3:00 p.m at Trinity Ecumenical Parish, Moneta, VA with a reception immediately following. Interment at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery will be private.
