Obituary for LCDR David Anselm Newton, USNR (Ret) LCDR David Anselm Newton, USNR (Ret), 70, passed away on Sunday, October 14, 2018 in Louisville, KY with his children by his side. He was born November 30, 1947 in Cincinnati, OH to the late Anselm Joseph Newton and Mary Agnes (Kuhl) Newton. David grew up in Louisville, KY attending Atherton High School and completing his education at Old Dominion during his service in the US Navy.

He was a Navy career man who served 28 years, many of which were at sea and during multiple conflicts. He retired as Commanding Officer of the Naval and Marine Corps Reserve Center in Grand Rapids, MI. David is survived by his children, Eric (Megan) Newton, James (Ariana) Newton, Sarah Newton and their mother Christine (Weber) Newton; two grandchildren, Eisley and Wilder (Eric/Megan); siblings, Gregory, Christopher, Martha Bohn, Tim and Tom, Mary Williams and Jonathan; several nieces and nephews and his beloved Newfoundland’s, Moe and Sarge.

David loved traveling the world and will be missed by many. His Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2018 at Ratterman Funeral Home, 3711 Lexington Road. A gathering of family and friends will be from 10 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
